Abstract:

Winning Coalition is about daring to DREAM big and making it happen. It is about social engineering of cementing different groups of Londoners into believing and advocating a PURPOSE/VISION that will change London's political, social and economic landscape by challenging the ability and competency of a nation.

Background

How did London host the 2012 Olympics?

It started with a VISION of wanting to bring the greatest games to London by three individuals while they were in a pub. They visualised of bringing Olympics back to London. The last time London hosted the games was in 1948. The DREAM came through as it hosted the 2012 Olympics for an extraordinary 17 days, making it the first city to host the modern Olympic Games for three times. Nevertheless, every great story starts with a single weave that interlace into a beautiful ending that prevail over every objection and doubt. The year 2012 Olympics was spectacular as it was a game changer that integrated the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics and changes the public attitudes towards disability and to celebrate the excellence of Paralympics sport. Yet, the greatest success was the vision set behind the Olympic London's bid that pulls the generosity and spirit of the British that lead to the biggest number of volunteerism in England.

How to make people believe in our VISION:

  • We have to create a vision that everybody understands, what appeals to the people
  • In the case of London Olympics, the vision is to transform the life of the young people. The fundamental is about people, about bettering their standard of living and redefine the word disparity; by closing the gap between the east and west London (building a new city within an old city)
  • We have to include all the stakeholders (community)
  • We must dare to challenge the ability of a nation to elevate its competency
  • We must dare the people to change and transform

What next, when people believe in your VISION:

  • We must stand up to critiques
  • We have to listen to the people and recalibrate their ability
  • We can leverage on the people's multifaceted skills to do something different
  • We must not be afraid to make mistakes, as we learn more on the day we do wrong
  • There is no pre-ordained outcome in life, thus we have to push ourselves to the limit
  • We have to challenge the status quo

Final step:

  • We must balance creativity and budget
  • We must be brave and fearless to do the impossible
  • Always keep challenging ourselves
  • We have to keep our vision as the true north
  • We have to root our plans to crisis management

REMEMBER, NO JOURNEY IS A STRAIGHT LINE TRAJECTORY!
