THE ASIAN ACADEMY OF MANAGEMENT (AAM)

The AAM was mooted by Professor Emeritus Mohamed Sulaiman, who was then the first president of AAM. It was officially established on June 18, 1994 through the initiatives of a group of Asian academics from various institutions. AAM provides an avenue for academicians to disseminate and share ideas on the latest business and management related areas. It seeks opportunities for collaboration among members to promote awareness and interest in the field of management.

A forum for the discussion of Asian-related businesses was established, leading to the birth of AAM Conference. The first AAM conference was organized from 7th till 8th of December 1995 to advance theories and practice of management in Asian countries. Concurrently, the first issue of the Asian Academy of Management Journal (AAMJ) was launched.

To facilitate coordination among AAM members in Indonesia, an AAM Indonesian Chapter was established at Binus University, Jakarta. This chapter is of part AAM’s aim to expand its presence in Asia.  AAM Indonesia has organized many activities since 2008 particularly in supporting international conferences in Indonesia.   

OBJECTIVES

•    To provide a forum for the discussion of ideas, issues and challenges in Asian management.
•    To promote management studies and practices in Asia.
•    To disseminate research findings on Asian management practices.

MEMBERSHIP

The annual membership fee is RM100. Members will gain opportunities to join the various activities organised by AAM.
